The Lake

Lake John was John Shinkins dream come true – a fishing lake of his own, which he created from nothing.

But the week after he stocked it, John died in a boating accident aged 45 and never got the chance to fish it!

But all his hard work was not in vain, because Colin Bartlett took over and made the lake into an attractive and popular fishery with something for everyone, from matchmen, and occasional anglers to specimen hunters. John’s ashes are scattered on the central island.

So his memory lives on through the Lakes name.
